ZEISS has recently introduced the Secacam 3, expanding its leading trail camera lineup to three models. This new device is poised to revolutionise wildlife observation by offering enhanced image quality and advanced technology at a very competitive price point.
Building upon the success of the Secacam 5 and 7, the Secacam 3 incorporates several key features that enhance its performance. These include exceptional image quality, improved motion detection capabilities, enhanced battery efficiency, and faster data transmission. Additionally, the user interface has been designed to be intuitive and as user-friendly as possible.
Carsten Hess, Product Developer at ZEISS, says the new ZEISS Secacam 3 is "perfect for capturing stunning nature footage, day or night." And while in development, the team had a huge focus on making a “simple, efficient and easy to mount wildlife watching camera.”
A modern, and bang-up-to-date chip set enables optimised image processing and compression, so you can get detailed images even in low light or shaded areas. Thanks to the innovative H265 compression, the camera saves storage space without sacrificing image or video quality.
Improved motion detection
The new PIR Fresnel lens of the ZEISS Secacam 3 makes motion detection even more sensitive. You’ll catch even the tiniest movements or distant animals. The shiny lens surface ensures precise focusing of infrared light and reduces scattering losses, so you can monitor even remote or heavily overgrown areas.
Great user-friendly design
Hess has emphasized the importance of a simple and efficient camera setup during development. The camera’s tilting 1.9-inch display lets you check directly if the selected image frame is perfect. A new “TEST button” allows you to quickly take a test photo and send it to your smartphone via the ZEISS Secacam app. This way, you can test the camera’s mobile connection quickly and easily. The app also has AI-based animal recognition, which can identify and filter birds from other animal species in your images. With the “Colour the Night” feature, you can re-colour your night shots to get even more detailed images.
The camera always focuses on the subject
The Secacam 3 is equipped with a powerful LTE module that lets you send images and videos quickly and reliably, even when the network is weak. This technology also saves energy, so the camera’s battery lasts longer. The camera has a multi-network SIM that automatically chooses the strongest network available at your location. This means videos and images can be transmitted to countries in the European Union, Norway, Switzerland and the UK with total confidence.
Price and availability
The new ZEISS Secacam 3 will be available from January 28, 2025, for £119.99 from speciality retailers and online.
